Speaker event: Patricia Hill-Collins, 22nd May 2015, 5-7pm at the Oxford Martin School, Catte Street, Oxford
We were pleased to welcome Patricia Hill-Collins to speak in Oxford in May 2015. Professor Hill-Collins is currently a Distinguished Professor of Sociology at the University of Maryland, College Park. Her work primarily concerns issues of feminism and gender within the African-American community, and she has been central in expanding the concept of intersectionality in the study of feminism. She delivered a talk entitled, "We Who Believe in Freedom Cannot Rest: Lessons from US Black Feminism".
Co-sponsors included: Oxford Human Rights Hub, The Black Association of Rhodes Scholars, Merton College, and the Women's Studies Department.
